About The Event

Island Chef Challenge Registration/Competition Info: 

Five Chef teams will create an “Island” inspired dish to be scored by WFC E.A.T. Certified Judges with highest rated dish qualifying to compete in the 2019 World Food Champsionships (CHEF Category) taking place October 16-20 in Dallas, Texas.

·  Chef teams will prepare two Island themed dishes. The entries may be any "Island Style" dishes (Jamaican, Puerto-Rican, Caribbean, or any other Island style food). Each Chef to "Live Cook" 5 judges samples and 1 presentation dish for judging for the WFC Teaml  Alabama Golden Ticket. Each team will also prepare 200 small samples to serve to event attendees. Chef teams competition entries are to be placed on a generic serving tray and submitted with a recipe card with stating the name of the dish and a basic description (does not need to include all ingredients, just anything of note). No identifying markings can be used on the food, tray, or recipe card (Example: logo’d toothpick, your name, restaurant or team name, state, city, etc.). Toothpicks can be used to hold your dish together. Any identifying marking is grounds for disqualification. Teams are NOT required to serve chef's challenge dish to the public – however, sharing of any extra servings is encouraged.   

· Competition entry fee is $125. Chef teams will provide all food for the dishes. Teams will also provide their own cookware. Chefs will be responsible for all food products used in the event and must provide plates/bowls and serving tray(s) for their competition entries.

Each Chef Team will have 1 1/2 hours to set up, cook, serve, and clean up. Teams may prep ahead of time, but all cooking must be done on site for the audience. Chef Cooking Times: 11:00-12:30, 12:30-2:00, 2:00-3:30, 3:30-5:00, 5:00-6:30.  Cooking times will be assigned by blind draw in advance of the competition. 

Golden Ticket Winner will be announced at 7:00pm.

Cooking Area Set Up      - Set up cooking area  on round concrete pad will include: Gas Grill, 2 burner cook-top, Flat Top Griddle, Small Fry Station, 2 6-foot tables Pirate's will provide two bus tubs and wash dishes at the end of each Chef cooking      period.

Chef teams may consist of Head Chef and TWO assistant chefs.

WFC E.A.T. Methodology will be used by the judges. Highest overall score earns a Golden Ticket to compete in the 2019 World Food  Championships in Dallas (Oct 16-20).  Non-transferable. If the winning team chooses not to compete in Dallas, the spot will be offered to the second-place finisher. Winner will also become a member of WFC Team Alabama.
