The Best of the Bay Gumbo Cook-Off, presented by Fairhope Kiwanis, will be held Saturday, October 20 from 11am to 2pm at Coastal Community College Fairhope Campus Amphitheater.

The championship is open to local restaurants, companies, service clubs and individuals who want to compete for the Best of the Bay trophy and earn a GOLDEN TICKET to compete in the World Food Championships in Orange Beach. Separate prizes are available for best restaurant and best non-restaurant, and there will also be a Peoples Choice winner selected by the public. 

Back Forty Beer - Burger Battle - Gadsden, Al

​Chefs and Cook Teams from around the region gather at Back Forty Beer Company to create their best version of the American classic. At stake:  Bragging rights, a cool trophy, AND a Golden Ticket to the World Food Championships in Dallas, Texas. Taking place October 16-20, some 450 teams will compete in 10 different categories in the largest food sport event on the planet. The winning Burger Team – as determined by certified WFC Judges will represent WFC Team Alabama and receive a paid-for registration into the championships, recognition in print, digital and social media, Team Alabama swag and a cash stipend. provided by Back Forty Beer Company. Entry fees are $125 and the field is limited to 12 teams. Cook teams are responsible for providing all of their cooking equipment and ingredients, some power is available as is water. Each team must present one show plate and five samples for the official judging. They should also prepare a minimum of 200 samples for entry into the People’s Choice contest. (This does not have to be the same as the judging dish.)

 

There is no charge to attend. Advance purchase sampling tickets are 15 for $10. Day of event tickets are $1.00 each. Proceeds from sampling tickets go to the United Way of Etowah County. 

 

Coming back for its second year in the August 0f 2019. Sample some of the delicious culinary treats in our Bacon-inspired competition. See live culinary food demos and meet some of your local food purveyors, chefs and vendors. You will hear from nutrition and health experts and see some of Alabama’s talented chefs, home cooks and restaurant pros battle it out for a Golden Ticket and represent Team Alabama at the 2019 World Food Championships. 

As part of Dauphin Island's annual Reggae Weekend, Alabama coasting present the inaugural Island Chef's Challenge.  Five Chef Teams will create an “Island” inspired dish to be scored by WFC E.A.T. Certified Judges with highest rated dish qualifying to compete in the 2019 World Food Championships (CHEF Category) taking place October 16-20 in Dallas, Texas.

Chef teams will prepare two Island themed dishes. The entries may be any "Island Style" dishes (Jamaican, Puerto Rican, Caribbean, or any other Island style food). Each Chef will "Live Cook" 5 judges samples and 1 presentation dish for judging for the WFC Team Alabama Golden Ticket. Each team will also prepare 200 small samples to serve to event spectators and foodies.

Join the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce at Blackburn Park in Downtown Bay Minette for a Crawfish Event like no other -- The Annual Crawfish Bash has evolved into a Crawfish Cook Off!!! Award categories include Crowd Favorite, Best Side and Best Theme with the winning chef earning a Golden Ticket for the World Food Championship, representing Team Alabama! Enjoy live music by local talent Ryan Balthrop, kid's activities include laser tag from On Sight Entertainment and several bounce houses!

 

All the fun and excitement is set for Friday, June 8th as gates open at 5:30pm. 

 

General Admission tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 10 with a paid adult.

Congratulations to Chef Ramon Jacobsen of Odette Restaurant at the Taste of the Bayou in conjunction with Al Seafood Cook-Off! Chef Ramon and his team will represent WFC Team Alabama at the 2019 World Food Championships in Dallas, TX.  Held Wednesday, May 1st at the Bayou La Batre Community Center in Alabama’s Seafood Capital, Bayou La Batre, AL. 

As in previous years, the 2019 ASCO winner will represent the state of Alabama at the 15th annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans as well as WFC Team Alabama for the 2019 World Food Championships in Dallas TX. 

Congratulations to Chef Mark Darren Harbison and his DI Sea Lab's May Cafe team for winning First place at the 10th Annual Dauphin Island Gumbo Cook-Off in both Traditional and Freestyle Gumbo - Earning a Golden Ticket to WFC 2019 in Dallas, TX. 

Held April 20, 2019 at the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo Headquarters on beautiful Dauphin Island.

Congratulations to our local winning Chef, Patty Clark of Warehouse Bakery! She will have the chance to compete in the World’s Largest Food Sport event and receive the title of World Food Champion.

Thank you to all who participated in this official qualifying event for the 2019 World Food Championships (WFC).  Proceeds benefit Fairhope Elks Lodge Emblem.
